Meeting No.1 - Target Polarization and Field Orientation
At the moment I am working on a code that will return the beam polarization and field
orientation for every production run. The orientation of the target is determined from
the orientation of the field. Values of the polarization and current in all three Helmholz
coils are read from Begin-of-run scripts.
The polarization of the target was during the experiment measured every few hours (3-4 hours). That means
that we don't know the exact polarization of the target for all runs but only for few of them,
when we made a NMR measurement. For runs in between two following measurements we now need to find
the best approximation for the target polarization.
At the moment is my code using linear function to interpolate polarization between two measurements.
This already should give us better approximation for the polarization of the targets. Please see the plots
below. Red dots represent values read from Halog entries, while blue dots (on a line) represent the
interpolated values. Vertical lines determine the change of the magnetic field (change of the target
orientation).
Results:
To-do:
1.) Simon suggested that in the regions where polarization dropped significantly (i.e. after the polarization change) and is starting to increase again we should use exponential function (instead of linear function) to interpolate the data.
2.) I am also comparing my trigger schemes with the scope plots that I made (during the experiment) to check
if the trigger electronics worked properly.
3.) I am also planning to finish my compass calibration. The vertical compass calibration is finished,
while I am still having problems with the horizontal compass.
4.) I am learning how to use farm in order to run scripts to determine electron asymmetry in the left arm.
I was trying to do that on my own computer but I takes "ages" to get raw data files from silo to my own computer in order to analyze them.
Request:
Could someone (on site) please send me the the Run-Sheets and Shift-check-lists for the Third pass beam
period, because I am missing this last part. Thanks:)
